Ghanaians are expected to experience another horrifying moment as ‘dumsor’ is expected to commence from next month April 2021to July 2021. According to Electricity Company of Ghana, there will be load shedding of power supply which is expected to start in April.
GRIDCo, a power distribution firm in Ghana says it’s still in talks with ECG to come up with a timetable for load shedding. There has been power cuts in some parts of Ghana late last year and beginning of this year, a rising development that kept many Ghanaians in shock and some still lamenting. Because to many, this power outages which is popularly known as dumsor in Ghana was a thing of the past in 2016.
Mr. Amankwaah who is the Corporate Communications manager for power distribution company GRIDCo said the announcement was very necessary so customers of ECG will have that prior notice before it commences. IES, Institute of Energy Security has welcomed the decision by GRIDCo and ECG. It revealed that, this will enable both companies to undertake a major maintenance works from April to July. IES noted that, the prior notice will help customers to plan their activities ahead of time, which will mitigate the impact of power outages.
