A new Ghanaian funeral meme has gone viral on social media amid coronavirus crisis. The new meme popularly called “dada awu” in Ghanaian parlance which  literally means “dad is dead” is what almost everyone online is talking about.

In Ghana, there are multiple groups who are normally hired to  grace funerals, to make them memorable. Several funeral homes have emerged in recent times with various amusing scenes during funerals. It is believed in some parts of African culture that it is necessary to pay the very last respect to the dead before they’re finally laid to rest. And in so doing, many people are gradually moving towards these funeral homes to be able to organise memorable funerals so they could mourn loved ones and show that last respect.

There was this particular video of such which many of us saw last year. That video is now a new meme around the world. Most people are seen editing it and posting it on social media amidst coronavirus lockdown. This has become the new funny thing online.

Lots of such videos are now online across Europe Africa North and South America and  Asia.

Bernie Sanders,  former presidential candidate for the Democratic party of USA opted out to pave way for his competitor joe Biden. Even in this,  Mr. Bernie Sanders is being trolled with the meme “dada awu”

This should tell you how viral it has gone and how the internet has graced the new meme. And how the world has become a global village.

We’re still praying for the world to heal asap. We are fighting an invisible enemy. It is difficult as we speak but we will win. Let’s come together to fight this pandemic. It is well

It’s been twenty-one days since Ghanaian rapper Pappy Kojo got trapped in Italy due to the lockdown imposed by the Italian government to decrease the tepid spread of the coronavirus.

And it seems it is having an effect on the “Ay3 Late” rapper. He is frankly bored and we have a proof of it.

On Monday, March 30, he shared a weird but hilarious video of his new look on his Instagram page and dared his fans to try it.

In the video, he completely got rid of his eyebrow and bet his GHC100 on any fan who can create the same video.

He captioned it: “Show me a video of your shaved eye brows at home and I go dash you 100 ghc.”

Actress Jackie Appiah is not looking for any monetary benefits before she helps educate the public on the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19).

She believes that it is the civic duty of celebrities to use their star power to help educate their fans and the public on the global pandemic which has claimed thousands of lives.

Answering a question on whether celebrities should be paid by the government to be ambassadors to educate the public on COVID-19, Jackie Appiah said money should not be the priority.

During regular press briefing on Wednesday, March 17 by the Information Ministry on the COVID-19 cases in Ghana, government was asked if it has planned to hire celebrities as ambassadors to educate the public on the pandemic.

The sector minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in his response, said, “We were thinking of having them as public education ambassadors or public education champions.”

“I later saw online stories that we have said we are going to use celebrity ambassadors and suggestions that we are going to pay some money. No, that is not happening,” he added.

Speaking in an interview on Showbiz 927 on 3FM with MzGee, Jackie Appiah, who says the Coronavirus has stalled her work, including movie premieres, said everyone should come on board to help the fight.

“We all need to educate each other…This is a global thing, it’s not just my industry alone. It’s quite sad…sometimes I use my platform to educate people,” she said.

The award-winning actress stressed, “I don’t need to wait for government; nobody needs to wait for anybody to call them. I think it is right for an individual to preach to people to talk to people that’s why we have the numbers. God has given us the numbers to educate people…everyone needs to educate people because people don’t understand [what is going on]”.

She reiterated that she does not need money from the government to support the campaign. “I’m doing this already for free right now nobody is paying me. I’m already doing it without being paid.”
