In their quest to ensure Ghana become an anchor of peace, a group calling itself Friends of Dr. Kwaku Oteng Society Ghana has called on individuals, traditional authorities, the clergy, and the Islamic societies to see themselves irrespective of their political affiliation as an instrument of peace-builders to create an enabling environment for peace to attain.

‘’As a nation going into an election, we need to protect the safety and security of the citizenry to allay the political tension in the country’’.

Addressing thousands of youth on Saturday 19th September, 2020, during a keep-fits exercise organized to demonstrate the love of peace and to also keep their health status active in Kumasi, Mr. James Arthur  Darko, the chairman of the group and leader of the Keep-Fits used the opportunity to urge the public especially the youth to be self-guarded with peace at where they are in order not to become a victim of societal violence. Adding it’s time to inform and educate others who are not abreast with the need to observe peace both in offices, social gathering and political rallies as part of measures to instill the spirit of patriotism before, during and after the December 7 polls.

Peace, he said, is a collective responsibility thus, individuals are duty- mandated to seek it path…therefore he advised the National Council for Civic Education to constitute a pragmatic structures to conform on it educational drive to educate the citizenry on why they should exercise their constitutional obligations toward the 2020 general elections. The role of the NCCE is pivotal in ensuring free, fair and transparent and violence free elections therefore more of their contributions in the upcoming elections are paramount and demanding.

The leadership of *concerned Parents for Free SHS Ghana* have embarked on a nationwide tour to acertain the conduct of candidates writing the Basic Examination Certificate Examination (BECE) centers and said they are satisfied with candidates posture and comportment and urged them to stay healthy amid the covid-19 pandemic so that they can also enjoy the ongoing Free SHS Education.

In an interview with newsmen in Techiman, *Mr.Benjamin Oteng Marfo –Chairman of Concerned Parents for Free SHS* they was no leakage of Exams ,no much irregularities because the students are focused to also enjoy Free SHS as a result some lactating and pregnant teenages were among 531,000 candidates with the aim of enjoying Free SHS as about 1.2million have benefited from Nana Addo’s flagship policy.

In conclusion, Mr.Benjamin Oteng Marfo called on all parents to join hands to campaign vigorously for Nana Addo, for the successful implementation of the free SHS policy . He added that, members of concerned Parents for Free SHS will use all available means to let Ghanaians know the numerous benefits that the policy offers to Ghanaians today and generations yet unborn because the zeal by candidates shows that they also want to enjoy Free SHS hence charged all parents embrace the policy and monitor the movement of their wards as they complete their BECE today.

Some 11 passengers are presumed dead after a freight truck crashed into two buses on the Accra-to-Kumasi highways stretch of the Kyekyewere Community in the Eastern Region.

In the accident which occurred around 5:30 am, Tuesday, over 50 other passengers are said to have been injured.

A DAF Cargo Truck suspected to be heading towards neighboring Burkina Faso burst into a tyre, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel, according to eyewitnesses.

The vehicle subsequently veered off its path and crashed into the two buses full loaded from Kumasi to Accra with passengers.

In their attempt to avoid the DAF Freight truck crashed an STC bus with registration number GE 8131-16 and another bus with registration number GT4997 -20.

Ghana Police Service and National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) staff were called to the scene to assist in handling the situation.

Some of the victims involved in the accident were admitted to Nsawam and Suhum Government Hospitals, sources say.

The bodies laying on the ground beside the vehicles have also been conveyed to the morgue.

NADMO personnel, Kwadwo Minta said the team has managed to rescue all of the passengers stuck in the car.

“We received an eyewitness distress call so the NADMO team mobilized with the police and rushed to the scene.

The Executives of the National Democratic Congress in Wassa Amenfi East has called on the supporters and sympathiser of the NDC to ignore any evil attempt to divide attention and blackmail the NDC Parliamentary candidate in the constituency.

The National Democratic Congress in a press conference on Thursday, 20, at the party office, has reaffirmed the settling on Hon. Nicholas Amankwah as a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC come 2020 general elections.

A week ago, over 50 Polling Station and a group calling itself Concerned NDC Youth in Wassa Amenfi East held a press conference calling on the National Executive Committee of the NDC to reconsider the decision of allowing the former District Chief Executive Hon. Nicholas Amankwah to go unopposed.

According to the leader of the Youth group Mr Kofi Atokyi, the declaration of the former DCE hon Nicholas Amankwa to go unopposed affirmed NDC defeat to the NPP in the constituency come 2020 elections.

The NDC youth in their statement describes the current Western regional party chairman Nana Toku and the former Wassa Amenfi East NDC MP hon AKwasi Oppong Fosu as “Anti-Mahama” whose their actions predicts the NDC 2020 flag bearer’s defeat.

Mr Nana Kofi Atokyi preferred candidate, Mr. Rex Asamoah Twum was disqualified by the Party’s Western regional executives from taking part in the race by series of allegations charged against him.

Meanwhile, the current constituency NDC secretary, Mr. Ignatius Boahene responding to the  youth leader in a press conference on Thursday, describes Mr Kofi Atokyi, as the real “Anti-Mahama and Evil plotter” against the NDC party.

“per our checks, Mr. Atokyi is not a real party man, he crossed the carpet from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the year 2008.”

He continued that, “thereafter, he (Mr Atokyi) had the opportunity to contest as a Vice chairman of the NDC party which he is now fighting against some key top party leaders” he stated.

Addressing the media, the secretary accused the former constituency NDC vice chairman for doing the job of his paymasters from the NPP party by campaigning to suppress the NDC fortunes in the constituency and NDC 2020 presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama’s victory.

He alleges that chairman Nana Kofi Atokyi on several occasion attend meetings with the NPP party and a well-known ‘galamsey’ Kingpin who is currently in a neck-deep galamsey activities with some top NPP gurus in Amenfi East constituency.

Mr Ignatius Boahene clearly stated that Mr Nana  Kofi Atokyi is not and has not been a financier and a diehard supporter of the Party (NDC) since 2013.

He therefore called on the public to ignore any agenda of destruction by Mr Nana Kofi Atokyi and remain focus to rescue Amenfi East from the mess caused by the Nana Addo and the NPP government.

Director for the universal rehabilitation center, Mr. Emmanuel Addai has shockingly revealed that he sees no death of Sir. John as his acts keep on reflecting moves of Ghanaians. According to him several initiatives by the late Sir John especially in tree planting etc has yielded enough fruit which keeps hunting his ghost in a manner amongst the people.

He disclosed this after he universal rehabilitation center ( URC), a local non – profitable and non – governmental organization based in Kenyasi in the Asutifi north district of the  Ahafo region of Ghana has planted over a hundred and fifty trees for ornamental and beautification and also to safeguarding the environment.

The initiative, dubbed, ” planting for life and prosperity for the future ” which is under the center’s sanitation and environment program, are  planting trees, cleaning the environment, protecting water bodies and educating  the people against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

According to the director his outfit is planting trees and cleaning the environment among others to give good breath, beautification of communities to ensure sickness – free living.

He called on all and sundry to come onboard and support the center in kind and cash for them to increase their capacity. He concluded by saying his outfit is well determined to glorify the late Sir John.

The ‘Mmrantehene’ of Wassa Agjarkaa-Manso, Nana Kwabena Awuah (l) has called on President Nana Addo to direct the Minister of Roads and Highways, not to hesitate to terminate the contract of non-performing road construction in their area.

The current practice of constructing the roads just poses a threat to the safety of residents who traverse the roadways which usually deteriorate with heavy rainfall.

The frustrated chief is calling on the ministry to make good on their promise, “year of roads” to properly repair the roadways.

According to the youth chief, flushing out the contractor that spearhead the delay of the road infrastructure will ensure that the community’s roads and bridges are of the highest quality.

The road project from Asankragua linking Wassa Agjarkaa-Manso community in Wassa Amenfi Central Municipality to Sefwi Bekwai was awarded to the contractor 8 years ago under the NDC government but is nowhere near completion.

Nana Kwabena Awuah (l) speaking to Offinso based Time FM reporter, Nana Kwame Boah, the chief describes the activities of the contractor as unnecessary delay in completing the road project.

A tour embarked by Nana Kwame Boah to the Western Region particularly, Agjarkaa-Manso area revealed that many of the residents find it hazardous to transact their day-to-day routine to provide food for their families because of the dusty road.

The Chief of Adanwomase in the Kwabere East of the Ashanti Region has outlined his plans to establish a nursing training for his people.

In his speech at agathering, Nana Kwadjo Ntiamoah Paninin said the institution will help to fast accelerate the growth of Aanwomase community.

“I’m going to build a nursing training school for Adanwomasi community in the years ahead and this I believe help to fast develop this community”, the chief stated.

At the 1st anniversary service in honour of Nana Kwadjo Ntiamoah Paninin (Chief of Adanwomase ) that was organized last Saturday by Adanwomasi Local Council of Churches on the theme:  “let us give thanks to the lord”, the Adanwomase chief said the development of the community has been his major priority  ever since he climbed the throne.

Therefore he has reserved a vast land to be used for developmental projects like tertiary institutions industries and other infrastructures.

He has however appealed to government of Ghana, private entities and the people of Adanwomase to assist in the development of the community.

Kofi Donyina has been shot dead on Wednesday, 12, around 7:40pm at Nkwantakese in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti region.

In a conversation with his step mother commonly known as Madam Tima,  she explained that, Kofi Donyina lost his biological parents some years ago and due to that, she has been his guardian since.

The cause that might have triggers the Fetish Priest linguist to pull the gun is not established.

Madam Tima continued that, the 20 year old is a native of Agyeimpra in the offinso municipality but in a way to find ends meet, he sells shoes at nkwantakese, where he met his untimely death last night.

Two people is currently in the custody of Kodie police station to aid investigation.

The Western Regional Minister, hon. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah has cut sod for the construction of a Cassava processing factory at Wassa Nkatieso of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal in the Western Region.

The factory forms part of government’s industrialisation agenda, ‘One District, One Factory’.

“Amenfi Farms Ghana Limited” is an agro industry startup, it’s focus is on cultivating cassava with the aim of adding value to the cultivated crop to feed our local industries for export.

The multipurpose use of Cassava has ginger’s the government led by his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo to spend so much in developing the cassava industry through Ghana Exim and the planting for food and jobs initiative to supply to industries who are into cassava related production.

Amenfi Farms Cassava starch processing factory is in two phases, phase 1 which on Saturday, 8th August witnessed the sod-cutting is a 20ton day production and will cover an area of four (4) acres and the phase 2 will be 300ton per day production which will cover area of 45 acres, the 300ton is expected to start in six months time.

Amenfi Farms Ghana Limited got it’s first surprise when the regional minister, Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah visited the cassava farms upon    assuming office as his first visit to any company in the region.

The Regional minister says “we are grateful for the recognition and the sod cutting for the commencement of the construction of the phase 1 and we the people in Western region also extend our profound gratitude to the President, Directors and partners for this project.” Okyere Darko told Nana Kwame Boah when addressing the Chiefs during the durbar.

       

On his part, the CEO for Amenfi Farms, Mr Andrews Kofi Gyan speaking to the media indicates that, their vision is to maximize returns from the agriculture value chain through value addition.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, the project when completed, is expected to be a major employer, providing not less than 5000 direct jobs and  2200 indirect jobs meanwhile the 20ton is going to generate 1600 direct and indirect jobs .

Mr. Andrews Kofi Gyan further extend his warmest gratitude to the Nanaom of the Amenfi Traditional Council led by the Wassa Amenfi Paramount Chief, *TETRETE OKUAMOAH SEKYIM II* and all the sub-chiefs in the area.

He further commended the Chief of Wasa Dompim *NANA NTIM BEDIAKO* for believing in the Cassava processing project and thereby releasing over 9000 acres of land to undertake the project.

Mr. Kofi Gyan urged all the youth to take absolute advantage of the great vision of the 1 district 1 factory and other government initiatives by his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo .

The Assembly Member for Bibiani Hwenampori Electoral Area in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region Hon. Adams Smith has apealed to Regional security council should come out with their power to postpone the new Chief installing at Bibiani Hwenampori.

According to Adams Smith, it has indicated that there is tension at Bibiani Hwenampori right now and it will bring violence come this saturday, so the Regional security council should call off that saturday program to avoid that clash at Bibiani Hwenampori.

I will be happy if the regional security council call off that saturday program “he said”.

Finally he said, Ghana police service (Accra),  Regional security council,    Municipal chief executive (Bibiani), Divisional police commender (Bibiani), District police commender (Bibiani), Municipal director (Bibiani B.N.I) and other agencies should come out and appealed to the Western Regional House Of Chiefs and the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi and the Head Of Ankobea family to suspended their upcoming Saturday program at Bibiani Hwenampori by install a new chief by providing another time to bring the situation under control first.
